Reportaż o Bogach Andów: tutaj Peru is a Catholic country but looking closer at the church holidays and prayers we can see that there are different religious influences operating in Peru. Thousands of years of existence of various cultures and countries in the Middle Andes contributed to some customs and rituals, which have become deeply ingrained. Usually, it has Inca character because of the fact that Inca Empire was the last and biggest hegemon in this region before the Conquistadors came over. I have been traveling around Peru as well as the nearby Bolivian border region for three months to find out more and explore this phenomenon. I went on pilgrimages lasting several days, lived with a Catholic family, observed life in a provincial parish, and I also took part in the session led by curanderos – Peruvian shamans. |
